March 24, 1986 - finally a new Stones LP is going to be released! Was it worth to wait impatiently during all the delays? Is it really a second EXILE ON MAIN ST? These were my thoughts when I hurried home that 24th March - how lucky I am to have to work only in the mornings and to have a "fast" boyfriend!

At home I found the new LP as a CD. I sat into my rocking chair and started to listen to it. It is as usual a wonderful feeling to hear a new Stones LP for the very first time. There are always some parts to which one has to get used to first, other swhich one doesn't like at all (and later one probably likes them the best!) and still there are parts which are appreciated immediately. Well, after getting used to it for a month and after playing it many times, I think to be aware of my favourites:

* One hit (to the body) - An absolute hit, almost like "Start me up". It's hard to understand why this song hasn't been the first 7" off the LP.

* Fight - An average song, but typically Stones.

* Harlem shuffle - Unfortunately I never heard the original - it'd be nice to compare. Do I like it because of the video or is it really good?

* Hold back - ...Charlie's song?

* Too rude - Whatever Mr. Richards takes in his hands, repectively in his mouth - I like it. This song even especially!

* Winning ugly - Rather weak- did the band really intend to release this track as a single?

* Back to zero - As well not one of my favourites.

* Dirty work - If this is supposed to be dirty work, then I love it.

* Had it with you - I didn't like this track from the very first listening on, and I still couldn't change my mind. Probably because I don't like "Lies"...

* Sleep tonight - Compare with track 5... Keith is just a genius.

* What can I say? We all can't understand it.

Summary: Certainly not an EXILE ON MAIN ST, but definitively better than UNDERCOVER. The album's title doessn't fit that much, DIRTY WORK for an album that has been remixed with probably a little too much perfection. Anyway, we're in the 80's - and that has never been that clear as on the new Stones album DIRTY WORK.
